Fendor Glass & Aluminum (1993) Inc.is an Ottawa based small business that can befound nestled in the bustling west end community of Westboro. Fendor manufactures aluminum boat docks and accessories associated with that product. It also supplies and installs windows, doors and garage doors for both commercial and residential applications, plus provides comprehensive service for the same.
The company was originally founded in 1941under the name F. Fentiman & Sons Ltd. by Mr. Frank Fentiman and his son Clarence. The company had modest beginnings as a distributor of sash balances, weatherstripping, and sull sash; based out of a tiny wood-frame building. Over the years the business expanded into overhead doors, aluminum windows and eventually progressed into larger commercial window and curtain wall installations. When the Fentimans decided to retire in 1976 they wanted to ensure the continued growth of the company and the welfare of its workers. To accomplish this they sold the company to two longtime employees, Len Westwell and Peter Royds. In 1993 the company was restructured under the new owner Greg Westwell, Len Westwell's son. Over time the business has grown, prospered and diversified; with particular attention being placed on expanding the production of its line of aluminum boat docks (Fendock), which are now distributed right across Canada.

Community/Charitable
Involvement
Fendor is a community oriented company that supports many local
events and fundraisers. We are a corporate founder of the Cottage
Dreams program, which is a charitable organization that
provides recent cancer survivors with the opportunity to get away
to a donated cottage for a week of rest & relaxation. We are
proud supporters of the United Way, encouraging our employees to
support the United Way's mission to "... improve lives and build
community by engaging people and mobilizing collective action".
We also support the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival, through the donation
and setup of numerous “Fendocks” (boat
docks), which act to facilitate the ease to which participants can
enter and exit their boats. The Ottawa Dragon Boat Race Festival
has numerous organizations to which it focuses its charitable proceeds.
Since 2003, Fendor has been a a Gold Sponsor for this Festival, meaning
that each year our donations are in excess of $30,000. Fendor is
also a Silver Sponsor for the Carleton Place Dragon Boat Races. The
environment is also an important issue to Fendor. Not only are the
Fendocks environmentally-friendly, but they also have the support
of the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. In 2003 Fendor made
a financial donation to the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority
to assist them in a water quality monitoring program, and since then,
Fendor has continued its support through donations of its Fendocks
and accessories. These are only a few of the many charitable organizations to whom Fendor is pleased to be able to contribute.
